What Causes Grey Hair?
Many people believe that grey hair is hereditary, and therefore inevitable. However, scientists have identified the IRF4 gene that is associated with greying hair, and it only accounts for about 30% of greys. There are two main factors that cause grey hair: the decrease in melanogenesis and the increase in oxidative stress in the hair bulb. Our unique system tackles both, from the inside-out and the outside-in.
What is Oxidative Stress?
Oxidative stress is a phenomenon caused by an imbalance between production and accumulation of oxygen reactive species (ROS) in cells and tissues and the ability of a biological system to detoxify these reactive products. Oxidative stress can come from UV rays, cigarette smoking or the use of on scalp hair dye. Over exposure to oxidative stressors can cause the cellular function to be disrupted, which can lead to depigmentation (grey hair) and other common signs of aging hair.

Hair Growth Cycles
Our hair strands have a complex lifespan that is unique to every strand. The average person has 100,000 hairs on their head and each of those hairs will go through the same life cycle at different times. Being able to support each stage the hair goes through is key, even when hair sheds that is a positive part of this cycle making way for new growth.

Percentage of Grey
Everyone’s hair turns grey at different ages, your percentage of grey is what is most important. Arey is a proactive solution that works best when used at the first signs of grey hair. For best results we recommend using Arey when you are 0-30% grey. Even though re-pigmentation is less possible when you have more than 30% grey, preservation is. The ingredients in our products can help with preserving remaining pigment, and improve common characteristics of aging hair, like coarseness and dryness.

Our proactive and clean topical serum To The Root is formulated to reduce the signs of aging hair. To The Root utilizes a clinically effective peptide that stimulates melanogenesis while reducing oxidative stress in the hair root. This results in the slowing of grey hair, and in some instances helps with re-pigmentation by stimulating MC1-R (Melanocortin 1 Receptor).
-
stimulate
Our clinically efficacious peptide helps with re-pigmentation by stimulating the MC1-R (Melanocortin 1 Receptor).
-
safeguard
Antioxidants including Fo-Ti and sesame seed help reduce oxidative stress in the hair bulb.
-
nourish
Extracts from wasabi, ginseng, soybeans and hops provide nourishment to the roots and promote cell turnover to create healthier hair.
-
volumize
Pantothenic acid (B5), provides anti-inflammatory properties and is involved in activating the proliferation of cells in the skin barrier and also helps bind water to the skin, adding shine.
What To Expect
Hair grows an average of a half inch per month, and your hair strand starts about a half inch below the surface of scalp. Consistent use and allowing time to see results is key. Most users see results in 90 days. In the first 1-2 months most users see their scalp health improve, with hair that is more balanced, less greasy and visibly thicker and fuller. In months 3-4, this is when you really start to see healthier hair, less grey growth, and the start of re-pigmentation.

How Re-Pigmentation Works
The appearance of grey color in a hair shaft is due to a gradual loss of melanin. With the loss of pigment level, the color of the hair becomes increasingly light and the hair shaft appears grey. The stimulation of melanocytes, and the repigmentation process, can occur as long as some melanocytes are still present in the hair bulb. The irreversible final step of the hair greying process is a completely white hair shaft, this is when there is a loss of all melanocytes.
